This was a great trip to the ski village which has unchallenged charm... The Skiing was good as Megeve is at a relatively low altitude. The side trip Chamonix and the Grand Montet was quite grand. The most interesting part of the trip was to take a bus up to the adjacent Megeve Airport and rent a flight to fly over the Chamonix valley... See some pictures of this flight on the link below. It was well worth it and I do suggest you call in advance and make reservations. Make sure its a nice day as well.
2 Factors effected French attitude, the Euro was impacting the French and post 9/11 shakeout. The French were not overly friendly throughout the week, however they were accommodating. We made good communication inroads before the week ended. The best party I have ever attended (yes ever) occurred the Saturday evening prior to our departure. The Jazz Bar had a live band and after midnight, the bar lit up like fireworks. Double magnum's of Champagne were released as spray over the crowd and the dancing and excitement was electric! Sandy left the camera behind so we have no evidence (thank goodness) and Kevin may have flown back to Britain with the sexy big girl.
The party made the week and then we went to Geneva for a couple of days and left the skiing behind. This was going to be the last time I would spend just a single week in the ski resorts as I felt as if I was not done enough skiing and wanted to go back when we were in Geneva.
Highlights of the week include:
Megeve: apre in bar next to the rivers edge, relaxing at trails bottom w\ lounge chairs, jazz bar, cham, kevin missing the connecting flight, geneva cop drinking with us at the airport then going back to work, ski club and then E goes missing only to find out she is back at the hotel, eating patte, sausage outside on the ski top restaurant, falling in tree holes and surviving, flying over cham.from the Megeve Airport, hanging at the bottom trail restaurant and having a beer, Proposal on the top of Chamonix by Dallas and his future wife. Dallas and the cigar smoking, starting a fire in the hotel fireplace after we were told to let it burn down to ashes. (Hell, Dallas was getting married, it was a party.) Shed inspired buildings.
